Central Midlands Alliance Roundup for October 19th

One of the few remaining 100% records came to an end on Tuesday night as Premier South division leaders South Normanton were held to a 1-1 draw by a tenacious Cromford & Wirksworth Town. It looked like business as usual as Kane Snell put the Shiners ahead in the 9th minute but Cromford dug deep and finally got their reward a minute into added time when Steve Mallinder hit a deserved equaliser.

Another improved performance from Mansfield Hosiery Mills almost brought them three points against Melbourne Dynamo. Grant Mitchell’s goal for Mills kept them in front until stoppage time when Elliott Dawson rescued a point for the visitors. Graham Street Prims moved back into the top three with a 3-0 win at Arnold Town. Harry Baines set them on the way with a goal on 29 minutes, George Lynam doubling the score just before the interval. Baines’ second confirmed the destination of the points twenty minutes from time. The Holbrook derby went the way of St Michaels who won decisively 5-2. They led 2-0 but were pegged back by Sports who were level by half time The second half belonged to the Saints who scored three unopposed goals to claim the bragging rights. Scorers for St Michaels were Richard Hounslow with two, Ryan Baker, Jake Dodds and Joe Brumby, Mike Birkinshaw and Brad Daly with the goals for Sports. Teversal and Gresley Reserves remain entrenched at the foot of the table, both ending up on the losing side on Saturday. Gresley came closer, losing 3-2 at Bakewell Town. Will Johnson and Stu Baker put the home side two up, Riley Crawley pulling one back before half time. Matt Kelcey restored the two goal advantage midway through the second half and although Ewan Smith again reduced the arrears, there were no further goals. Teversal went down 3-0 at home to Derby Singh Brothers with James Grewal-Pollard scoring after 14 minutes and Tyler Johal making it two with 35 minutes played. Any hopes Teversal may have had were finally extinguished in the  77th minute when Devante Ramsey got Singh’s third goal. The second local derby of the afternoon was at Mickleover where two Nathan Bennett goals for RBL saw off the challenge of Mickleover Reserves.

Another 100% record bit the dust with Dinnington Town dropping their first points of the season at AFC Bentley, the final score 1-1. The leaders went ahead in the 7th minute with a Logan Liggins goal, Bentley equalising with a superb free kick from Deven Hannan five minutes before half time, neither side managing to press home the advantage in the second half. Elite AFC consolidated third place by beating Staveley Reserves 5-3. Elite profited from an own goal after 20 minutes, Archie Micklethwaite’s second after 35 minutes drawing a response from Oli Moore who put the visitors back in the game on 40 minutes. A burst of scoring from both sides either side of half time saw Cole Patrick scoring twice for Elite,  Dylan Betts and Dan Gillies replying for Staveley leaving the home side a goal to the good. The all-important final goal went the way of Elite, Sammy Amissah finally settling matters in the 65th minute. A goal four minutes into injury time gave Hatfield Town a 2-1 win at SJR Worksop. Hatfield took the lead in the third minute with a goal from Jack Bonser, Sam Foulds put the home side back on terms in the 14 minutes which was how it remained until Fraser Hurst’s late late winner took the points. Blidworth Welfare coasted to a 6-0 win over Yorkshire Main. Ben Copestake scored twice in the first half with Reilly Hodgkinson and Tom Edwards doubling the lead, the result given a bit of gloss by Edwards and Archie Ward who both scored in added time. The match between Ollerton Town and Harworth Colliery was decided by a single goal scored by Harworth’s Adam Morrison in the 55th minute. Kiveton Miners Welfare picked up their second win of the season at Glapwell with Hisham Awodh scoring on 26 minutes, Florent Fadiga getting the second ten minutes from time.

The final place in Round Two of the Buckingham Insurance League Cup went to RHP who beat Bottesford Town 1-0 in  an end to end game in which countless scoring opportunities were created and missed, apart from one midway through the second half, finished off by Kieran Wall. The second round draw takes place on Tuesday morning

The top two in the Macron Store Nottingham Division One North, Evo FC and SJR Worksop coming away with a point each from a 2-2 draw. Evo had the best of starts, Senan Hussain put them in the 4th minute, Rory Benn backing this up with a second after 11 minutes. SJR retaliated and were helped by an own goal after half an hour, Joe Bean making sure the points were shared five minutes into the second half. Appleby Frodingham thumped Crowle Colts 6-0 in a North Lincolnshire derby, with three goals in each half. Alfie Comerford, Ben Hayward and Hayden Richmond gave them a healthy half time lead with Richmond completing his hat trick and Rossi Francis-Webster also scoring to make it half a dozen. 780  JLC, came agonisingly close to opening their account, a late goal from Harworth Colliery seeing them on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline. Jimmy Purdy scored both for 780, Harworth shading it thanks to goals from Josh Miernik, Sam Espey and Harvey Penders. Another close run thing at Epworth where the hosts edged past Dearne & District 3-2. Charlie Shapland with two and Henry Curtis were on target for the home side, Dearne falling just short despite goals from Jack Oxley and Robbie Moulton.

Just three matches in Division One East, Shirebrook Soldiers maintaining their perfect start to the season, Ben Charlesworth, Keegan Darby, Kieran Darby, Bill Holland and Lewis Foster all finding the net in a 5-1 defeat of Long Bennington who replied through Archie Carter. An emphatic 4-0 win for Pilsley at home to Ashland Rovers gave them some relief at the wrong end of the table thanks to Daniel Wing’s double and one each from James Thorpe and Rhys Wallhead. Kirton Brickworks slipped up at Eastwood & Kimberley who won 3-2 with Martyn Gee, Callum Banks and Carnell Lester’s goals giving the hosts the points, Kirton’s scorers Layton Wareham and Ben Walker.

The top two in Division One West added three more points to their tally with Mickleover Athletic pulling off an impressive 4-0 win at third place Melbourne Dynamo, Cole Hassell, Harry Foxon, Elliott Baugh and an own goal keeping them a point in front of Rowsley 86. Bakewell Town came close to recording their first win of the season, two late goals from Inter Belper making the final score 3-3. Inter led with an Ashley Buxton goal but by half time Archie Sykes and Harry Clarke had given Bakewell the lead. Sam Rosling added a third, but the final ten minutes saw Alex Beaumont pull a goal back before a last minute penalty put away by Alex Picken meant the points were shared. Mayfield remain pointless after a two goal defeat at Cromford & Wirksworth Town, Graham Whysall and Alex Brown with the goals. A single goal decided the other two matches, Adam Gosden striking to seal Sleetmoor United’s win at Bargate Rovers while Rowan Kelly scored the goal which gave the points to Belper United at Little Eaton.

FC Sunnyhill remain at the top of Division One South despite being held to a 2-2 draw by bottom side Burton Hornets, Tyrell Francis and Myles Sturges with the goals for Sunnyhill which were matched by Hornets’ Tom Mitchell and Charlo McLean. Another draw at Burton United’s match with Baobab United which finished 1-1, Wangchieng Met Lam the scorer for Burton, Umar Hussein with the goal for the visitors. Ellis Enshah scored both of Punjab United’s goals as they saw off Hemington Hammers.

One or two goals about in the Drayton PACS Division Two where four of the five matches yielded seven goals each. The exception was at Wirksworth Ivanhoe where the undefeated home team beat third place Mickleover Athletic 4-1 to retain their place at the top, Tom Donovan’s double and one each from Tom Mellor and Jack Higton enough to take the points, Matt Penniket-Barrett the scorer for the visitors, Ashland Rovers left Castle Donington still without a win, the final score 5-2. Anton Wedderburn scored twice for Ashland with Cauley Taylor, Billy Foulkes and Jack Sheldon contributing one each, Castle Donington’s Ross Sims and Sam Oakland giving the final score a respectable appearance. The other three games all ended 4-3. The surprise result was Aston Village’s defeat of Rising Stars whose winning run had extended to eight matches. There was a hat trick for Kieron Isaacs with Marcus Hall also scoring. Ashover had the edge over Allenton United, Morgan Boyle and Joe Moss both scoring twice. Finally, a late goal gave Rowsley 86 the advantage over Markeaton. A first minute goal from Noah Wayne gave Rowsley the perfect start, George Evans bringing the scores level on 25 minutes before Wayne’s second and a goal from Billy Lester put Rowsley two up. Evans’ second a minute before half time and a Sammy Tomlinson goal on the hour brought the sides level, Lincoln Slater’s 84th minute strike tipping the balance in Rowsley’s favour.

Three County Cup games saw two victories for CMAL sides and one defeat. AFC Phoenix lost 4-2 to Silkstone United in the Sheffield FA Senior Cup, the goals coming from Joel Bradshaw and Lloyd Chuba. Two wins in the Sheffield FA Saturday Cup with in-form Kinsley Boys progressing 2-1 against Sheffield City Development, Rio Cooke and Jack White with the goals. Ronin Herrington scored the goal which gave Bessacarr a 1-1 draw at Bentley Village, the subsequent shootout ending 4-1 to Bessacarr

Central Midlands Alliance Roundup for October 12th

There were outstanding results for two CMAL sides in midweek Derbyshire Senior Cup ties. Premier South leaders South Normanton travelled to North-West Counties outfit New Mills, the Shiners going behind on 58 minutes but levelling a minute later with a goal from Josh Scully. That’s how it stayed until the end, the visitors successfully coming through 4-3 in the subsequent penalty shootout. Borrowash was the destination for Holbrook Sports who inflicted a 3-2 defeat on their Notts Senior League opponents, taking the lead with an 8th minute Brad Daly strike, Owen Nixon putting them further in front ten minutes later. Borrowash got one back after half an hour but Nixon had restored the two goal advantage by half time. Despite coming under heavy pressure after going down to ten men, they conceded only once as they progressed to the second round.

Dinnington Town racked up their 12th win on the bounce, temporarily opening a nine point lead at the head of the Black Dragon Badges Premier North division after a 3-1 defeat of Harworth Colliery.  Goals from Logan Liggins on 24 and 30 minutes plus an own goal ten minutes into the second half put the visitors in an unassailable position. Although Harvey Smith pulled one back after 65 minutes, the damage had already been done. The game was played in front of an impressive crowd of 275. Nearest challengers Doncaster City put on a powerful second half display to overwhelm Blidworth Welfare 7-0. Doncaster had only a one goal lead at half time, a Jordan Turner penalty separating the sides, but moved up several gears after the break, Jack Mackay struck twice in three minutes just before the hour, Turner getting his second with 65 minutes played. Willie McGhie’s strike on 70 was followed by one from sub Will Monteiro, Turner completing his hat trick three minutes from time. Ollerton Town halted Hatfield Town’s three match winning run, a late goal giving them a   2-1 win. A match which was goalless until the 45th minute still managed to reach the half time whistle at one all, George Edwards’ goal for Hatfield answered immediately by Regan Edridge. So it stayed until four minutes from time when Rob Singer pinched the points for Ollerton. Another late goal at Staveley Reserves saw the home side squeeze past Kiveton Miners Welfare. Staveley’s Matt Goodwin and Kiveton’s Henry Bowe made the scores level at half time, the visitors seeing the points disappear as Xavier D’Andrade got a late winner for the hosts. Elite were 6-1 winners at Glapwell who have now gone eight games without a win. They hit three in each half, Cole Patrick, Tommy Pallett and Jacob Swales in the first period, Dec Richards with two and Sammy Amissah taking Elite to the half dozen.

Another good result for Holbrook St Michaels in what is proving to be a much more successful campaign. They were 3-0 winners at Mickleover Reserves thanks to goals from Ryan Baker, Jay Barrett and Dave Leigh. Ten from ten now for leaders South Normanton, though for the fourth time in the last five games the margin of victory was a single goal, Just one goal was enough to take the points this week, an early strike from Josh Parfitt taking the points at Derby Singh Brothers and preserving the 100% record. The Shiners sit three points clear of Linby Colliery with a game in hand. Linby also won away from home, Liam Cartledge and an own goal, both in the second half ensuring a 2-0 win at Graham Street Prims. Wirksworth Ivanhoe moved up to third after a comfortable 6-2 win at Arnold Town. The damage was done in the first nine minutes by which time Ivanhoe were three goals to the good, Jack Higton, Lucas Brough and Tom Mellor all on target early in the game. Fortunately for Arnold the rate of scoring decreased and it wasn’t until the 35th minute that Mellor got his second, the hat trick goal following four minutes later. Inevitably the second half was, something of an anti-climax, and it wasn’t until the 78th minute that Arnold staged a small rally, Akeem Campbell and Callum Jones scoring in the space of three minutes. Wirksworth had the final word, Billy Grimshaw scoring Ivanhoe’s sixth five minutes from time. Mansfield Hosiery Mills up and down season continues. A week after a poor display in their County Cup tie they ended Holbrook Sports’ recent upturn in form, beating them  2-1 courtesy of another late decider. Owen Nixon’s penalty gave Holbrook the interval lead, Jake Johnson levelling before Luke Greaves’ last minute winner for the Millers. A point apiece at Mickleover RBL, as visitors Cromford & Wirksworth Town came from behind twice, the match ending  2-2. Harry Banks put the Legion in front in the 16th minute, Ben Cartwright levelling seven minutes later. Jordan Lee restored the home side’s lead on the hour, Cartwright again rescuing Cromford just three minutes later to ensure a share of the points.

Three more places in the second round of the Buckingham Insurance League Cup were decided. Melbourne Dynamo were comfortable 5-0 winners at AFC Normanton with a goal each for Jack Griffiths, Archie Moore, Jack Goodband, Tyler Withers and Jake Peverley. It was closer in the other two matches. Yorkshire Main had a narrow 3-2 win at Division One Crowle Colts Development. Two from Jordan Thomas and another for Oscar Jones put Main in the next round, Zak Ford and Alex Proctor replying for Crowle. Goals for Oliver Perry and Jake Scott saw SJR Worksop safely through at Rossington Main Reserves for whom Bradley Johnston got the goal.

New leaders in the Macron Store Nottingham Division One North with SJR Worksop rising to the top after a 4-1 defeat of Harworth Colliery, Harworth scored first, Harvey Walker with the goal, but the Worksop outfit took the points, Harvey Taylor, Max Sykes, Owen Stead and Regan Millard all on target. Evo FC drop to second after they drew 1-1 with Armthorpe Welfare. A 33rd minute goal from Noah Kilcoyne gave them the lead but it was short-lived, Armthorpe equalising with a Panash Nemaruru goal three minutes before half time. Bessacarr are well placed after a 6-2 win against Epworth Town Colts, two goals each from Oliver Beaglehole and Henry Tyers and one for Harry Watkin and Josh Gelder proving too many for Epworth whose goals came from Sam Davies and Jack Harrison. It was a close run thing at Dearne & District, the home side seeing off Bottesford Town by the odd goal in seven. Dearne’s goals were shared between Jack Oxley, Joel Williamson, Liam Lambert and Robbie Moulton while for Bottesford, Corey Beedle kept up his record of scoring in every game this season with another double, Seb Hudson also on the scoresheet. An improved performance this week for 780 JLC despite another defeat as they went down 5-2 to FC United of Sheffield. The sides were level at two all when 780 missed a penalty, the visitors finally taking the points with a Blake Wright hat trick and one each for Danny Fisher and Harry Wilmott while Theo Butler and Harrison Steel scored for the home side.

Shirebrook Soldiers look to be the team to beat in Division One East as they made it six from six after an eye catching 6-0 defeat of Kirton Brickworks. Ben Charlesworth’s hat trick added to goals for Kieran Darby, William Dodds and Lewis Foster putting Shirebrook three points behind the leaders with three games in hand. Mansfield Hosiery Mills Blue stayed at the top after a 3-2 win at Ashland Rovers, A goal each for Cameron Pinnick, Danny Fletcher and Blake Vincent was just enough to add three more points, Rob Whitmore responsible for both of Ashland’s goals. At the ninth attempt Linby Colliery finally had something to smile about, Josh Baldwin’s goal halfway through the second half against Pilsley giving them their first win of the season. Ethan Widdowson scored twice as Southwell City got the better of Eastwood & Kimberley 4-2 Fin McCaughey and Finley Mellows-Simpson the other scorers, while Carnel Lester and Travis Shooter replied for the visitors. Long Bennington and Blidworth Welfare fought out a 3-3 draw, the home side taking a point thanks to Corey Evans with two and Jenson Longdon.

Mickleover Athletic’s Jamie Laird scored five for the second time this season as his side crushed Cromford & Wirksworth Town 9-1 in Division One West,  Corey Hassell’s double, Callum Horton and Piers Thompson making up the total, Dale Hill scoring what possibly might not be seen as a consolation goal for Cromford. Rowsley 86, enjoying a complete reversal of fortune from last time round, are still leading the pack, following a 4-1 win at Belper United. Belper took a 3rd minute lead through Marc Atwal, Tom Baker with the equaliser after 14 minutes. The rest of the goals came after half time, Aaron Eyre’s 52nd minute goal improved on by Billy Franklin ten minutes later, Baker’s second goal topping off the win just before the end. Melbourne Dynamo kept in touch with a 2-1 defeat of Sleetmoor United, Riley Moore’s double enough to beat Doohan Kerry’s goal for Sleetmoor. The other games ended all square. Bakewell Town came from behind twice at Little Eaton, Dan Peberdy and Shilo Wilson’s goals for the home side pegged back on each occasion by Sam Rosling. Will Welch put Bargate Rovers ahead against Heanor Town a minute before half time, the visitors levelling the scores with a 62nd minute Harry Pearson goal.

In Division One South the Burton derby proved rather one sided, United beating Hornets 6-1. On target for United were Alagi-Baharu Jabbi, Lamin Jassey and Wangchieng Met Lam, Joel Timbrell the scorer for the Hornets. Castle Donington and Sunnyhill drew 2-2, Jordan Ablitt and Josh Charleston scoring for the hosts, Sunnyhill’s reply coming from L’Varn Brady and Myles Sturges. It was also 2-2 at  Stapenhill, the home side’s goals coming from Liam O'Brien, Archie Brown with both goals for visitors Holbrook Sports.

It was top against bottom in the Drayton PACS Division Two, Rising Stars’ match with Castle Donington going strictly to the formbook, the final score  9-3 with Bamoussa Cisse scoring four, Michael Walsh with two and one each for Kyrell Wheatley, Musa Jeng and Chukwu Nwuke. Castle Donington almost doubled their goal for the season, Sam Oakland, Lashon James and Ethan Astle-Burgoyne making the final score more respectable. Wirksworth Ivanhoe are second, Reece Marshall’s hat trick, Kane Saxby, James Macdonald and Owen King proving too much for Rowsley 86. The top three teams are now detached from the rest, the third team also winning, Mickleover Athletic defeating Allenton United 3-1, Courtney Jennings, Matthew Penniket-Barrett and Richard Kayagilla with the goals, Allenton’s Kallen Smith with their reply. Aston Village won their match with Winster Darley Lions 4-2. On target for Aston were Kieron Isaacs (2)  Marcus Hall aided by an own goal, Robbie Musgrave and Dan Ward the scorers for Winster. Ben Jones and Toby Bown got the goals for  Markeaton at Little Eaton but it wasn’t enough to avoid a 3-2 defeat.

Finally a couple of County Cup ties. Bakewell Town must be kicking themselves after letting a two goal lead slip at Dove Holes in the Derbyshire FA Divisional North Cup. After going a goal down, Sam May, Freddie Hatcher and an own goal put them two goals up, but the advantage disappeared and it took a late goal from Alex Ferreday to take the match to penalties which went in favour of Dove Holes 4-3. Worksop Town Reserves made it to the next round of the Sheffield FA Saturday Cup, Ethan Slater and Tom Sinclair with the goals that beat Swinton Athletic Reserves 2-!.

The CMAL Roundup for October 5th
After the League Cup fixtures last weekend, this time it was County Cup ties which dominated with CMAL sides involved in competitions in no less than six different counties.

BUCKINGHAM INSURANCE LEAGUE CUP
Two of the outstanding first round ties were played, Elite storming through with a 9-0 win over AFC Phoenix, the home side running in nine unopposed goals. There were two each for Cole Patrick, Archie Micklethwaite and Sam Limber, with Tommy Pallett and Bartek Chrobak also featuring on the scoresheet. The other tie was a real thriller, ending in victory for Division One Long Bennington over Premier side Kiveton Miners Welfare, the game settled from the penalty spot. Long Bennington looked home and dry at 4-1 with only 15 minutes left but conceded three in the closing stages to send the game to penalties which ended 6-5 in their favour. Kiveton’s scorers were Muhammed Shebani who scored twice, Yaya Dembele and Hanad Mohamed.

BLACK DRAGON BADGES PREMIER NORTH
Four matches this afternoon with table-topping Dinnington Town made it eleven wins on the bounce with a 3-0 scoreline in their favour at Staveley Reserves. Brad Kerr gave them a 23rd minute lead which they held until 56 minutes, an own goal doubling the advantage, Will Eades finishing the scoring ten minutes later. Blidworth Welfare put an end to a three match losing run as they defeated basement side Rossington Main Reserves 2-0. After a goalless first half, Kyle Bacon finished off a free kick for Blidworth’s first, the clincher not arriving until the final minute, Ben Copestake settling the destination of the points. Harworth Colliery made the short trip up the A1 to take on Yorkshire Main, returning home with a 3-0 win to their credit, Callum Edwards, Adam Morrison and Marley Alder with the goals. SJR Worksop extended Glapwell’s winless run to eight as they completed a 4-0 win. Tom Mullen opened SJR’s account on 27 minutes, the lead extended by Jake Scott with 55 played. Oliver Perry’s 80th minute strike made the points safe, Alex Bennett with the fourth three minutes into injury time.

PREMIER SOUTH
The Normanton derby was a close run thing, league leaders South pushed all the way by AFC at Lees Lane, the Shiners coming from behind to complete a narrow 2-1 win. Henry Brooks gave the visitors the lead, Nathan Hadley levelling before Sam Kelly got the goal to keep the home side’s 100% record intact. Two more in the top five added to their points totals with 2-0 wins. Wirksworth Ivanhoe got the better of Gresley Rovers Reserves, Billy Grimshaw and Tom Mellor the scorers, while, as so often it was Alex Seale who came up with the goals as Graham Street Prims beat Cromford & Wirksworth Town, his goals coming either side of the half time break. Holbrook Sports are getting their act together after a shaky start to the season. They beat an inconsistent Mickleover Reserves 4-1 with Brad Daly, Mike Birkinshaw, Billy Barnes and Owen Nixon on the scoresheet, Mickleover’s reply coming from Josh Powell.

MACRON STORE NOTTINGHAM DIVISION ONE NORTH
Spare a thought for 780 JLC, whose fortunes reached an all time low at Kinsley Boys who subjected them to a deluge of goals, the final total of eighteen drawing a response of just one, 780’s sole goalscorer Harrison Steel. Evo FC maintained their place at the top, remaining undefeated after a 5-1 win at Epworth Town Colts. Noh Kilcoyne’s 3rd minute set Evo on their way, Senain Hussein adding a second with 25 on the clock, the hosts halving the lead ten minutes later. Rory Benn put the game out of reach striking shortly before and after half time, Oliver Hancock adding the final touch six minutes from time. Despite playing only one home match so far this season, SJR Worksop’s good run of form has taken them into second place. Their latest away win came at FC United of Sheffield, the score 4-2. Joe Bean’s double and goals from Alex Boyd and Taylor Thackery won the game with the home side’s Mohamed Barre and Blake Wright on target. Bessacarr lost ground as they suffered their first defeat of the season, 3-2 at Harworth Colliery, Harry Watkin and Darren Bird with their goals. A point each for Armthorpe and Dearne and District whose goal came from Jack Oxley.

DIVISION ONE EAST
One match, one goal, Cameron Pinnick scoring it for Mansfield Hosiery Mills Blue at home to Linby Colliery.

DIVISION ONE WEST
Mickleover Athletic hung on to second place in a close match with Bargate Rovers, the final score 2-1, Jamie Laird and Harry Foxon getting their goals, Harrison Mills with Bargate’s reply.

COUNTY CUPS – DERBYSHIRE
No less than 15 cup ties in the various competitions, The Divisional Cup North provided no success, Pilsley going out 4-0 at Chapel Town and Bakewell’s tie at Dove Holes postponed due to the lack of a referee. In contrast, the Divisional Cup South, which featured an exclusively CMAL set of matches, saw five of our clubs progress. Holbrook Sports’  development side went through 3-1 at Burton Hornets. Milad Niassa put the Hornets in front on 50 minutes, Archie Brooks soon reversing the score with a goal on the hour and another five minutes later, Zack Hadman making sure with ten minutes to play. A predictable 4-0 win for Melbourne Dynamo at home to Baobab United with a pair for Jack Griffiths and one apiece from Isaac Nkrumah and Oscar Supple. Sleetmoor United hit the jackpot at home to Punjab United, the final score 7-1 in their favour. Goals here for Will Price, with a hat trick, Doohan Kerry Who scored twice, Adam Godden and Jude Thompson. Holbrook St Michaels proved more than a match for Borrowash Vics Reserves, winning 9-1, Vics’ goal coming from Harry Fowkes. Little Eaton progressed with a 3-0 defeat of Inter Belper, Dan Peberdy, Shilo Wilson and Jack Hibbit doing the damage. Elsewhere Heanor Town Reserves won by a single goal at Mickleover RBL                                        Bakewell Town’s development side proved too hot for Youlgrave to handle in the Junior Cup North, the youngsters coming out on top 8-1. A four goal haul for Sam RoslIng was supplemented by one each from Jack Walters, Asher Banner, Fenton Allan and Luke Aram. An all CMAL tie resulted in a 5-2 win for Ashover over Winster Darley Lions, Liam Ashton and Ben Ferreday. In the other tie Langwith White Star beat Rowsley 86 Reserves 4-0,
Rising Stars continued their league form in the Junior Cup South winning 4-2 at Allenton United. Michael Walsh put them one up after half an hour, the rest of the goals coming after the break. Jayden Cozens levelled shortly after the restart, Bamoussa Cisse restoring the visitors’ lead before Chris Bitshuangu equalised for a second time. The tie was settled in Rising Stars’ favour by Cisse’s second goal and one from Kelly Abuymaye. Wirksworth Ivanhoe’s Reserves eliminated Markeaton, the final score 5-2. Harley Taylor scored a hat trick, Lewis Newman and Owen Young also found the net. Mickleover Athletic’s second string were knocked out by Ashbourne Reserves on penalties following a 2-2 draw, Matt Penniket-Barrett and Tad Kadete with the goals. Little Eaton Reserves went out, beaten 5-1 by Sherwin, Sam Hartshorne’s goal the only bright spot. Cromford & Wirksworth reserves forfeited their game at Willington.

COUNTY CUPS -, NOTTINGHAMSHIRE
The ten ties in the Notts FA Senior Trophy involved a mixture of teams ranging from the CMAL Premier divisions to the Development division of the Notts Senior League. Teversal of the former faced Cotgrave of the latter and predictably came out on top 7-0. Jack Sellars and Rocco Hardy scored the goals which gave Tevie the first half. Will Hall came off the bench to score the third with an hour gone, before a late flurry saw Luca Kancello’s double, Josh Radford and a second for Hall provide what may be a little boost to a club currently up against it. A second half hat trick from Liam Cartledge put Linby Colliery into the next round against Arnold Town’s reserve team, the goals coming in the 59th, 73rd and 75th minutes. Arnold’s first team did reach round two, their match at Eagle Valley with Kimberley Miners Welfare reserves ending 6-2. Callum Jones scored twice in the first half, backed up by Jamie Crawford and Kyme Mason to give Arnold an unassailable lead, Jones completed his hat trick before Kimberley pulled a couple back. Rhp came through on penalties after a 1-1 draw with Greyfriars on the wide open spaces of Burton Road Playing Fields, Sol Miller with the goal. Ollerton Town had an unexpectedly tough time before overcoming Elston United who put in an impressive performance. Goals in the first twenty minutes from Harvey Limb and Sonny Bennett proved just enough for the hosts, Elston getting one back, Ollerton doing themselves no favours by missing a penalty late on. There wasn’t much joy for our teams in the rest of the ties, Kirton Brickworks conceded six in the second half at AC United, Blidworth Reserves lost 4-2 at Ravenshead Reds while Eastwood & Kimberley were beaten 4-0 at Wollaton  and Ashland Rovers went out thanks to a 6-2 home defeat by Bingham, Tom Martin and Cauley Taylor with the goals. Last of all Mansfield Hosiery Mills were surprisingly eliminated 3-1 by Beeston Reserves, Grant Mitchell the scorer.

A much better result for Mayfield in the Staffordshire County Cup, beating Whittington 3-1 thanks to Rob Austin who scored two and Joe Handley. One win, one defeat but no details for the two
